The highly anticipated film Thackeray, starring the acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead role, is scheduled for release on January 25, coinciding with Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Celebrities have already started showering positive reviews on the biopic.
Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar praised the film as “bold and powerful,” hailing Nawazuddin as “one of our finest actors.” Sircar took to Twitter to express his thoughts, stating, “Film Thackeray portrays how an Artist becomes a powerful political leader. The film is bold and powerful. @Nawazuddin_S, one of our finest actors, roars like a tiger. Congratulations to @rautsanjay61 and @RKpanday1977.”
A special screening of Thackeray was organized in Mumbai, attended by notable personalities like Rohit Shetty and Suresh Wadekar. Veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha lauded the bilingual biopic on his Twitter handle, commending Nawazuddin for doing complete justice to the role. Sinha expressed, “As a tribute to his memory, a film, ‘Thackeray,’ a biopic on the life of Balasaheb releases on 25th Jan’19. I’m told Nawazuddin Siddiqui @Nawawazuddin_S is outstanding & it seems he has done complete justice to the role. He is credible & believable as he plays the late.”
Filmmaker Rohit Shetty shared similar sentiments, praising Nawazuddin’s portrayal of the late Shiv Sena patriarch Bal Thackeray, describing him as an “outstanding actor.”
Thackeray also features Amrita Rao and Sudhir Mishra in significant roles, with Amrita portraying the character of Bal Thackeray’s wife, Meenatai. The film, written by journalist and Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut, is produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Carnival Motion Pictures.
